Oracle announced that MySQL HeatWave is available on Amazon Web Services (AWS), giving customers a service that combines OLTP, analytics, machine learning, and machine learning-based automation within a single MySQL database. IBM announced it has developed a proof-of-concept dilution refrigerator to house future large-scale quantum computers. The "super fridge," known as Project Goldeneye, can cool 1.7 cubic meters of volume—up from around 0.7 meters on current large fridges. Establishing agreed upon services levels for database applications is of the utmost importance for assuring that performance meets required criteria. Without pre-determined, negotiated service level agreements in place, database and application performance can become a never-ending game of blind man's bluff, where DBAs blindly and constantly seek an unspoken goal.
