IBM has announced the next generation of its IBM POWER central processing unit (CPU) family: IBM POWER10. Designed to offer a platform to meet the needs of enterprise hybrid cloud computing, the IBM POWER10 processor uses a design focused on energy efficiency and performance in a 7nm (nanometer) form factor with an expected improvement of up to 3x greater processor energy efficiency, workload capacity, and container density than the IBM POWER9 processor.

GT Software has formed a strategic partnership with Sydney, Australia-based Strategic Consulting Partnerships (SCP). The partnership will allow SCP to provide banks, financial institutions, and federal government departments in Australia and New Zealand with a no-code way to connect their IBM Z mainframes to third-party apps and services, including enterprise or cloud, through GT Software's Ivory Suite.

Oracle has announced its San Jose Cloud Region, marking the company's 25th Cloud Region worldwide. The opening is part of Oracle's plan to add 11 Cloud Regions by July 2021, bringing its total to 36. Now, North American customers and partners on the west coast have regional access to all of the company's cloud services, including Oracle Autonomous Database and Oracle Autonomous Linux, as well as Oracle Cloud Applications. The San Jose site also houses the sixth multi-cloud interconnection between Oracle and Microsoft Azure.

Attivo Networks, a provider of cybersecurity threat detection software, has announced an integration with IBM Security Resilient, the company's security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) platform. "Once attackers bypass existing prevention mechanisms, they have the freedom to move around and can remain undetected for extended periods. Organizations need solutions that excel at finding in-network threats without relying on known signatures or attack patterns," said Tushar Kothari, chief executive officer of Attivo Networks. IBM Security has announced the results of a global study examining the financial impact of data breaches, revealing that these incidents cost the companies studied $3.86 million per breach on average, and that compromised employee accounts were the most expensive root cause. According to the study, stolen or compromised credentials and cloud misconfigurations were the most common causes of a malicious breach for companies in the report, representing nearly 40% of malicious incidents.

CFO Research and Vistra have released new data about how acquisition plans are being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the health crisis and its impact on businesses, organizations are pushing ahead with acquisition plans, according to two new studies by CFO Research and sponsored Vistra, a global business services provider.Before the coronavirus crisis, nearly nine in 10 companies were considering expanding into new countries. In April, as the effects of the pandemic were being realized across the globe, expansion plans weren't sidelined. Only 8% of respondents said they were delaying acquisitions or takeovers as a means to shore up budgets.
