IDERA, a provider of database productivity tools, has announced the latest release of its flagship SQL Compliance Manager product. Version 5.6 features new reports and log files that increase compliance visibility and awareness with a focus on GDPR, as well as improved usability and functionality of configuration settings. Separately, the company also announced the latest release of SQL Secure. Google has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Elastifile, a provider of scalable, enterprise file storage for the cloud. The acquisition of Elastifile is expected to be completed later this year and is subject to customary closing conditions, including the receipt of regulatory approvals. Upon the close of the acquisition, Elastifile will join Google Cloud.

EnterpriseDB has been acquired by Great Hill Partners, a private equity firm. Financial terms of the private transaction were not disclosed. "This acquisition comes at a time when the Postgres market is exploding," said Ed Boyajian, president and CEO of EnterpriseDB. On specific tables, there may be a need to limit access to a subset of rows, or a subset of columns to specific users. Yes indeed, views have always existed, and yes indeed, views can be established limiting rows or columns displayed. However, views only can go so far.
