At the same time, not everything has moved to the cloud just yet for big data environments. Many IT managers expect to live in a hybrid environment. They are planning for multi-cloud data management to deliver business value and are also still relying on old-school approaches and manual tools to support their data environments.

Following the close of its IPO, Couchbase has announced the general availability of Couchbase Server 7, which the company is calling a landmark release for its ability to bridge the best aspects of relational databases like ACID transactions with the flexibility of a modern database. "With Couchbase Server 7, the relational versus NoSQL database debate is over.
